With warmer days and sunny weather on the way it’s time to think about summer in Vancouver. This city has something happening most of the time but in summer it really makes the most of the great outdoors. Read on for a few ideas on how to enjoy summer in Vancouver this year.
Go to a Festival
When summer comes the city is full of festivals with all kinds of music. Many events are free and really popular. In Vancouver there’s such a choice of festivals to go to with something happening most weeks. Choose from the Victory Square Block Party to the Vancouver Jazz Festival for a great time this summer. And don’t forget Canada Day on the July 1st when the whole city celebrates.
Do the Grouse Grind
This steep hike up Grouse Mountain is a challenging hike and one of the best things to do in summer in Vancouver. When the trail opens for the summer season the Grouse Grind is used only for ascents and is an 853 vertical gain over 2.9 metres. But those views from the summit overlooking Vancouver are well worth the strain.
Head to the Park
In summer Stanley Park is a lovely place to walk and relax but there’s so much more here. You can take part in the annual Vancouver’s largest Water Fight at Luberman’s Arch. Or, why not come down to the park on a summer evening and watch an open air movie.
Shop at the Night market
In summer Vancouver has two Asian style night markets which are superb places to grab some street food, listen to live music and buy some of the eclectic items on sale. Each market has over 300 vendors. The International Summer Night Market and the Richmond Night market are the largest in the city. Another great place in North Vancouver is the Shipyard Night market.
In summer Vancouver really comes to life. Start planning those warmer days and longer nights with a few of these activities.
